Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #54 has been the first action filled issue since #50. Issue starts out with Michelangelo running into Hun and Hun beating the tar out of him.  Old Hob stops the ensuing battle ending up with a backhand to the face.

The other mutanimals back at HQ wonder where Michelangelo disappeared to, and Mondo Gecko informs them all that he had followed Hob to a warehouse. When they all show Slash reverts back to Berserker Slash and beats on Hun, before Hob can stop Slash from killing Hun. Hob then has to explain why Hun is here and telling Mikey that working with Hun and the Purple Dragons is needed to stop more dangerous bad guys.

The Mutanimals are insulted that they were not informed about team on up with Hun, but Michelangelo and Slash decide if Hun is going to be a part of the team then they are out. At the end of the issue we see Slash and Mikey say their goodbyes as Mikey sheds a tear as his good friend disappears. Also at the end we are introduced to the new antagonist Agent Bishop.

This issue has been the strongest issue since the decapitation of the Shredder. Starting this new arc has taken some setting up but it’s finally heading in an exciting direction. It will be great to see if Mike goes back to team up with the rest of his family at the Foot and what dastardly plan Agent Bishop has for the Turtles. I give this issue an 8/10, the art is awesome  (not quite as great as Santolouco art but still great).  The story is taking form and I can’t wait for issue #55!

Alex’s Rating – 8/10
