Batgirl #1

Batgirl #1

Written by Hope Larson

Art by Rafael Albuquerque

Colors by Dave McCaig

I’m going to be completely honest here, my knowledge of Batgirl is fairly limited. Our other reviewer, Alex, has more knowledge of the character than I do. However, having said that, I really enjoyed Batgirl #1 by Hope Larson and Rafael Albuquerque.

Batgirl #1 takes place in Japan as Barbara Gordon plans on taking a tour of Asia. The change of setting really gives the book a refreshing feel. The issue is really fun with amazing artwork from Albuquerque (as usual). Albuquerque uses some fun action panel layouts that really make this book come alive with energy. Hope Larson’s dialogue is quick and amusing; It reminded me of great Veronica Mars’ banter.

Batgirl #1 by Hope Larson and Rafael Albuquerque is an enjoyable read that really stands out among the other DC Rebirth titles. The art and snappy dialogue gives this book a refreshing feel and places it among the best titles to come out from DC’s Rebirth line.

Rating – 8/10
